MAY News

It’s hard to believe the end of the school year us only six weeks away. Your children have grown in so many ways. They have also developed many good friends. We as a staff, have truly enjoyed watching and being a part of this growth.

May is usually an enjoyable month with the weather warming up and the opportunity to be outside even greater. We’ve always been thankful for our large gym, but given the choice the children would prefer to be outside.

Chapel will be coming to an end this month with a “challenge” for the children. During the story time at chapel the children have been hearing about 20 different people from the bible and a characteristic that would make us remember these people. They hear stories about how there men or women had listening, were brave, faithful, responded immediately, were obedient, or a good friend. We have also explained to the children these were real people with qualities they could have too. Each week we have gone over the list of people we’ve talked about and encouraged the children to memorize these. Now…we will see how we have done! The challenge is to see how many names and character pictures they can match correctly. You can see the list in the hallway by the office. The challenge will be on May 21st with prizes for the winners!

Something Special:
There will be an end of the year Field Trip for kindergarten-2nd grade
Date: June 9
Time: 7:15 – 4:00
Place: Montshire Museum

The Montsire is a great museum with plenty of hands on activities plus a special activity centers around frogs & salamanders. Children will need to pack a lunch. Cost: covered by the funds raised by PTO!

Preschool Circus Graduation:
In previous years there has been a Graduation program for the children who would be entering kindergarten. This year we decided to do something that will include all of the children.

On Thursday, June 10th there will be a Circus Celebration. This celebration will be held in the Gym with “Joey the Clown” coming to perform his balloon tricks. He will also bring his inflatable bouncing house. The children will be able to play the many circus games set up in the gym, eat lots of “circus food”, popcorn, ice cream, hot dogs for lunch and enjoy making circus crafts. This will be a great morning of fun. Parents are invited to attend, just please let you child’s teacher know so we can have plenty of food for lunch. If your child doesn’t normally attend that day, you may bring them for the fun from 9:30 -1:00. The Preschool will close at 1:00 after our special morning fun, as the teachers will be taking a First Aid and CPR class required by the state of Vermont for Preschool Teachers. We will also be closed on Friday June 11 for cleaning and setting up for the Summer Program beginning on Monday June 14.
